MAY 2007 NATIONAL GRIEVANCE MEDIATION WORKSHOP IN CHICAGO

The Tenth National Grievance Mediation Workshop, jointly sponsored
by Mediation Research and Education Project (MREP) and the
Northwestern University Dispute Resolution Research Center (DRRC)
took place on May 15-16, 2007, on the Downtown Campus of Northwestern University. The focus of the 2007 Workshop
was on training mediation advocates, and the program included:
 | A live demonstration of grievance mediation. |
 | Two “hands-on” grievance mediation exercises in which
participants can play the role of a union or management
representative. |
 | Exercise debriefing by experienced mediation advocates Rick
Bank, AFL-CIO Director, Collective Bargaining Department, and
attorney Marilyn Pearson (DLA Piper). |
 | Mediation and additional debriefing by nationally-recognized
mediators, including Jack Clarke, Bill Hobgood, Dan Kosanovich,
Sylvia Skratek, and Rob Stein. |
 | Presentation by Prof. Stephen B. Goldberg, president and
founder of MREP. |
